Construction
OK – first things first.
I thought it would be prudent to build a shed – even if it was to be a mini version for my 4 year old to hang out in should he get bored wheeling the barrow back and forth between the digging area and the compost heap.
So here is the final thing – It was all built in 1 weekend (and I got quite a bit of digging done too) although I had prepared quite a few of the timber parts. the polycarbonate sheets had been sitting behind the shed in my garden for some time waiting for a project. they were a bit brittle when cutting but are probably quite old now as i acquired them from the skip outside a very local double glazing company premises.
The doors were made from an old pallet and an old toilet door that had been thrown out by a local factory.
For some reason I thought it would be nice if I fitted astroturf as the floor as I had some of this laying round too.
First visit
My first visit was with my 4 yr old son and we spent 2 whole days over the weekend – to get some of the plot dug over and to construct a small shelter big enough for the both of us should it rain.
I took plenty of partly prepared timber and polycarbonate sheets that I had acquired some time ago from a skip belonging to my very local double glazing company.

Hi
I have just been given the keys to a 5 rod allotment plot after being on the waiting list for nearly 4 years.
The plot has been left in fairly good order (no brambles anyway) and is mostly covered in short grass and weeds, abandoned compost heap and a large Cherry tree.
I am hoping that the frosts have finished now so I should be able to get on top of things before it all runs away with itself.
I’ll try to take regular pictures of progress as it gets dug over and as I get a shed built out of found materials.
