We got this one for £28 at the end of last year. As the allotment is a bit open we drove a large stake in each corner inside and fastened the frame to them.

We have one of these little greenhouses in the garden - I had one a few years ago and it was really good for tomatoes and peppers so got another for this year before we decide whether or not to invest in a more sturdy, more permanent greenhouse. Might have to buy a new cover for ours already though as one zip has bust (my fault, was a bit heavy handed with it)

Yes they are but saying that you can get them with white green or spotted colour They are two types bush and climber, both should grow quite well here as a friend grows them in the north of America which has a similar climate to ours.

Are Lima Beans the same as Butter Beans ?

I still shudder when I remember school dinners when Butter Beans were served boiled and watery ! However, much later on we have used dried Butter Beans in soups and stews.

We have never seen these seeds on sale in the UK, but saw them being sold loose on a market stall in Portugal as 'Climbing Beans'. We bought some wrapped in an old newspaper and will be sowing them next month in the same way that you would grow Runner Beans.

Good luck with yours !

I grew some from dried beans, bought in supermarket grocery aisle

I was not impressed, seemed to me that runners / French beans are best here, which may well explain why you can find zero mention in catalogues, bit like soya beans really, not worth the bother

Best of luck anyway

The most important thing is to remember to keep seedling only just moist and give them plenty of ventalation. Mould loves damp warm stagnant air. One of the old remedies was to give the compost a watering of Bordeaux mix when you first sow the seeds.

Yes I planted my first tentative sowings this morning. A sure fire way to make it snow! I'm tempted to do a lot more, but have bad memories of having to nurse hundreds of seedlings through a bad spell and loosing the lot to rot / mould! I suspect I won't be able to resist it for long though ...
