Herbs

I was given some pots and seeds for sage, rosemary and thyme in March so I planted them up and put them in the greenhouse.  I can see a few seedlings showing, so hope they will do well.

MY GARLIC AND CHIVE RAISED BED

Now this one has done very well.  This is a new bed my Husband built along with the one I mentioned in my previous post with lettuce, radishes and beetroot growing in it.  The one pictures the garlic plants I transplanted from overwintered bulbs and also I split my chive plant into three and put them in this bed.  Then I planted seeds for carrots, spring onions and lettuce and these have all done very well.  I put a basil plant in the corner as this will flower and attract bees – also my chives, weirdly enough, are beginning to get buds already.

SHALLOTS, MANGETOUT, HERBS, RHUBARB, COURGETTES & TOMATOES & CHARD & FENNEL

Dave harvested some spuds for me! YUM!

Dear All

Although I have had a hairline foot fracture and have not been able to go out into the garden for 3.5 weeks to do anything and continue to have to rest with my foot elevated, I did just venture out and hobbled up the garden to take a short look.  Tomato plants coming on well, courgette plants have some mini courgettes just starting, rhubarb is burgeoning, masses of mangetout in my bean and pea bed, shallots doing very well, mint, lemon balm, basil and marjoram burgeoning too, chard quite big and fennel doing very well.

Sadly 3 of my potato bags infested with greenfly so I asked my Husband to get rid of them – what a shame – but 3.5 weeks of no vigilance and the pests have got a bit of a feast out of it – oh well que sera sera!  Broad beans are coming on reasonably and my nasturtiums (and yes I do eat the leaves in salad) are rampant and the flowers are so colourful and a big bee attractant.

I said I would see if I could get some photos taken for me and here they are! Thanks to the photographer!

Cannot wait for 19th July (or so) 6 weeks from original injury, when I should be able to start a gentle return to my gardening – hurrah (saw the doctor and he confirmed this!)   HAPPY GARDENING ALL!
