Stumbling Through The Garden

Not much to say. I’m pretty new to the whole gardening thing but interested to see what I can grow.

Where?

We bought an old farmhouse just outside of Stuartfield in Aberdeenshire which came with a couple acres of land. Not being gardeners we thought we may as well throw ourselves in at the deepend!

The previous owners had a couple of raised beds which we opened out to create one large veg patch and are in the process of creating a second. Being the kind souls they are, they left us with a greenhouse and pig shed fully stocked with pots, canes and all kinds of gardening tools. Which was nice.

Who?

I’m Malcolm and I live here with the other half, Jo.
We’ve got quite a few animals here, some more welcome than others.

It's me Everbody!

Here is me laughing at somethimg, not sure what it was but it must have been really really funny.

Dogs

The one we call “Wee one” takes the form of a Bearded Collie/Chocolate Lab cross. It goes by the name of Sprocket. Currently 1 year old.

Her hobbies include collecting and hiding socks, gloves and wellies, chasing hens and staring at cats.

The second is a Bearded Collie which appears to be crossed with a clown. Marley is 3 years old and we rescued him from the local Cat and Dog home. I say “we”, what I mean is I was told we were rescuing him. His hobbies include walking into walls, trying to eat postmen and cats and dogs and people and buzzards and cars and pretty much everything. He has issues.

Chickens

Currently have 7 of these egg laying creatures.
2 Light Sussex (Stroganoff & Noodle)
2 Black Rocks ( Fajita & Peri)
3 Hi-Lines (Nugget, Barby, Roastie)

Their Hobbies include winding up Sprocket, supervising the cat, eating worms and pecking wellie boots.

Cats

We actually got 3 cats with our house and they live in the steading and outbuildings. Of these we’ve lost one to a fight with a car (Stumpy), misplaced his mum (Ninja) but continue to feed Hobo who lives on a sofa in the steading.
