Cold Comfort Farm
We have lived in France for the past 7 years, following a dream of self sufficiency and sustainability. The farmhouse is an ongoing renovation project on a shoestring which has sometimes been hilarious, sometimes a nightmare, but always a challenge.
Until the start of this year, the garden was just cleared and a few projects started, as basic needs had to met first within the house itself, which has taken a great deal of time and hard work, and will no doubt continue for the future!
The ‘we’ presently consists of Louis my son who arrived to join the experience on 25/12/08. Penelope my niece who arrived at the mad house in June, and has plans to stay. (Although the plan may have a direct correlation on how much gardening she is roped into) … and of course a collection of animals :
Hamish: the delinquent Ginger Ninja, many a visitor has been lulled into a false sense of security and stroked the dozing cat, only to wear him as a bracelet.
Templar: who mistakenly believes he owns everything, including all the surrounding lanes and fields!
Loki, the local re-cycling expert, no job is too small and everything is undertaken as a covert mission. Can usually be located by the bins if required.
Neptune, the electric fence tester, he bides his time and then pounces for a local excursion when nobody is looking.
Justice, will happily take anyone for a ride, but prefers novice riders who will not be able to stop the picnic en route.
The gaggle, who believe they are dogs and patrol the boundaries.. and deposit way too much in their wake!
