I love a bargain as much as the next person but today I had a fabulous deal on fruit shrubs from the local Wilkinsons.

I had a
black currant bush (ben nevis) for 75p
3 types of raspberry bushes for 75p total ( can’t remember the names of these)
2 white strawberry plants 75p
Some flower bulbs also for you guessed it 75p

But the one I’m most excited about is the Goji Berry bush I had. I have been looking for one of these for months, but didn’t want to pay the extortionate prices I had seen so this was a real find.

So just got to get home from the day job to,or row and can get straight in the garden to find all of these a per any home.

Excited much, I think soooo

Gooseberry bush has recovered very well after last year being stripped bear by slugs, hoping they keep away this year.

Not sure if you can see on this picture but we have what looks like the beginning of Red berries

Nearly pulled these out of the ground until I remembered they were the Blueberries I planted last year.

Cranberry bushes have also survived the winter.

Overall if everything goes to plan we will be getting lots & lots of fruit this year. Adding to the apple tree, strawberries and Damson tree.

Sowed a few more seeds including Peas, mixed lettuce, carrots, radish and dwarf French beans.

Few more jobs done around the garden, weeding and clearing up after the wind earlier in the week.

Gooseberry bush seems to be recovering well from last year when the slugs stripped it bear of all leaves and fruit. Apple tree has lots of buds on and the Cherry tree also looks to be surviving.

So nice to finally be out in the garden seeing the rows of flowers in bloom and the duffs ready to come through.

Good day was had…

Finally after a couple of decent days of weather I have started sowing some seeds. Managed to sow a tray of Peas, some Carrots, Parsnips, Lettuce, Kale, Cucumber and Courgettes.

I tried the Cucumbers & Courgettes in Egg Shells as per a previous tip, certainly doesn’t hurt to try it out. If it works It would also mean Its the first successful growth of Cucumber I would have, don’t know why they never work, I get to a certain size then they just keel over.

Cleared the whole of the raised bed of weeds, raked it over & left it to settle for a while till planting some stuff out. (fingers crossed)

Looking out & seeing fresh dug beds really puts you in the mood to get out & get stuck in.
