Took the kitchen waste to the allotment today and looking at the frozen ground it was obvious that there was nothing that could be done today, so it was off for a trip to the garden centre to buy a few odds and ends. We bought some onion sets and also some gladioli corms for the flower plot. On the way home we popped into the local Aldi store and while shopping picked up a pack of soft fruit bushes . There was 3 small bushes in each pack ! gooseberry and 1 each of a red and a yellow raspberry although small the 3 were only£2.49 . @ 83p a plant I would say the are a real bargain although I dont expect any fruit until next year

An Avatar (example left) is the image that appears next to your blog, or next to any comments you make on another blog. It can be anything you like. My Avatar is of me digging in the garden with my son John.

Slightly confusingly, we all need to have two Avatars uploaded, one for our “Blog” and one for any comments we make on other peoples blogs. An important point is that once you have your Avatars up live you never have to change them again – frozen in time forever young! It only takes 2 minutes – the instructions for getting this sorted are listed below:

1. Updating Your Personal Avatar (this accompanies all your site contributions in forums across the network of vegblogs).

In the left hand menu of your admin area look for the heading titled “Users”, and click on “Your Avartar”. The page that appears has clear instructions on how to add an Avatar.

2. Updating Your “Blog Avatar” (this is the avatar which symbolises your site and allows people to find your site by clicking on your avatar.)
In the left hand menu of your admin area look for the heading titled “Settings”, and click on “Blog Avartar”. The page that appears has clear instructions on how to add an Avatar.

All the best
Ben

Here is how to add a link to your “Blogroll”. A “Blogroll” is just a list of your favourite websites. Here is the method for adding a link to vegetableseeds.net (which you need to do to qualify for free seeds from vegetableseeds.net).

1. Login to the admin centre:
2. On the left hand side is a list of menus. Near the bottom of the list is a section titled “Appearance”. Within this section is a link called “Widgets”. Click this.
3. Lots of different widget titles will appear on the screen. Click and drag the one titled “Links” over onto the section on the right hand side of the page titled “Sidebar 1” and click “Save”.
4. Now you need to add the specific link to “vegetableseeds.net”. In the left hand menu there is a section titled “Links”. Click it. The sub-menu gives you the option to “add a link”. Click this option. It’s then very straightforward to add the link. All done!
